My Story

Like so many other business owners, I fell into entrepreneurship because I wanted to pursue my creative talents on my own terms.

After a year and a half of freelancing, I quit my day job and started Elle & Company in January 2014 to design brands and websites for other small business owners.

But I learned very quickly that without doing my research and learning more about the business side of creative entrepreneurship, I wouldn’t be able to draw in clients and make ends meet.

So I figured things out by trial and error.

As I came across effective tips and strategies for starting and scaling an online business, I put my own spin on them.

Within 6 months, I had booked out my client calendar, started a waiting list, and filled it up with over 250 prospective clients.

Along the way I shared exactly what I was doing to design, market, and grow my business on the Elle & Company blog.

It wasn’t long before my passion became two-fold.It started as a love of design, but it’s grown to a love of helping other creatives put their best foot forward online so they can turn their talents into a successful, profitable business, too.

Why I do what I do

I believe that we’re all created with distinct gifts and abilities and they aren’t meant to be kept in secret. In fact, I believe we all benefit when these gifts and talents are shared!

It’s a blessing to not only have these gifts, but to enjoy them, make an income from them to provide for our families, and help others in the process.

Helping other people bring their dreams of owning a business and pursuing their passions on their own terms is one of my greatest joys. It’s an honor to share what I’ve learned with you and help you along in your entrepreneurial journey.

Other joys in my life include...

My husband, Jake

I believe there are two types of business owners out there: Those who were born with an entrepreneurial spirit and just need a business idea, and those who were born with a creative talent and fall into entrepreneurship. Jake is the former, I’m the latter. He’s my sounding board and my greatest supporter (as well as my 4th grade crush and constant source of entertainment).

My son, Eli

My work took on a whole new meaning this past April when I became a momma. This business allows me to stay home with my son and continue to pursue my love of design, and I’m so grateful.

My cat, Heidi

I’m totally a cat person. It happened by accident a few years ago when this cute little calico stumbled into our lives and no one else would take her home. #Heidithecalico keeps me company while I work from home and often pops up on my Instagram feed.
